National Criminal Search-

Multi-State/Multi-County: This search is the core of any criminal check and throws a very wide nation-wide net to search for any type of criminal activity. Our database is a compilation of State and County Court Repositories, Law Enforcement, Departments of Correction, State Government Agencies and Administrator of Courts reports resulting in a powerful multi-jurisdictional criminal search tool meticulously examining millions of criminal records. Since many criminal reports are found by matching Last Name and Date of Birth; if the nanny candidate is currently or has been married; we will check both her married and maiden names at no additional charge (other firms would charge for a full additional search fee for this service). 

Regional Criminal Search: Once we have thrown a wide net we narrow the focus to a regional search. The regional search accesses felony, state and misdemeanor criminal data in the adjoining 8-10 states where the nanny applicant has lived and worked. Most background check companies are satisifed to check only the criminal records of the State where the candidate has lived; our background check goes much further and checks the criminal records of the cluster of states surrounding her state of residency. This greatly decreases the possibility that an "out of state" criminal violation will go undetected.

Sexual Offender Registry: A Sexual Offender search is a must have for any nanny background check. Our team conducts a national search of individual state sexual offender registries. In addition, we also conduct an up to date researcher re-check of the sexual offender data base of the state of residence as well as all neighboring states.  In most cases if a match occurs, we will provide you a photo of the match to verify identification.

County Criminal Search: The County Criminal search is generally the most reliable since it is conducted at the actual courthouse by a professional court researcher. A search will be conducted in the county in which she resides or in the county where the Social Security-Address Trace indicates she has lived the longest as an adult. (Note: Certain areas of the state of New York do not allow for a single county search).

State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV): This is an essential part of any nanny candidate background check especially if the nanny will be driving the children. State DMV reports show an individuals’ driving history and can indicate reckless, unsafe or irresponsible behavior. DMV reports can be a strong indicator of substance abuse or alcohol problems. You will receive your candidate's full driving record that lists all her reportable traffic violations and the points she was charged for each infraction. (Note: Some states {PA, WA, OR} include Traffic and Parking violations in National and State criminal searches. Also, a few states prohibit MVR reports being sent over the internet, in such cases, we will deliver the report by US Priority Mail).

National Bankruptcies, Judgments and Liens: This search can provide a window into an individual’s personal financial situation and can indicate a candidate's responsibility toward her financial obligations. Persons under severe financial burden are statistically more prone to theft.Since all bankruptcies are adjudicated in Federal Bankruptcy Court, this report includes data from 94 Federal judicial districts for bankruptcy. The Judgments and Liens search includes collection lawsuits and complaints from over 3,000 counties and districts nationwide.

(Note: Federal law prohibits adverse action based solely on past bankruptcies).

Social Security-Address Trace: This search also throws a very wide net that draws from over 300 data sources. The Social Security trace will verify that the social security number listed by the applicant is valid as well as the time frame in when it was issued. The search will indicate if more than one individual is associated with that particular Social Security number. The Address Trace will list addresses to which the applicant is related. This can point out inconsistencies in employment and residential history.

College Education Verification: Unlike other background check firms that only verify a degree; we will verify a college degree as well as college attendance. Reporting a college degree is the most commonly misrepresented information submitted by job candidates. We have access to the student databases of over 1,200 educational institutions. Our investigators will either access the university's database files or directly contact the College Registrar. We verify highest degree achieved, dates attended, date graduated and major field of study.
